Comics Forever

Artist Highlight - Special Edition: Oliver Nome (2012)

Hello to you guys, so far in all the time I’ve been running Comics Forever I keep to myself since this is a place where most of you come for the beautiful art and to read the few words I have to say about the ocassional comic or movie. Today however I’m tackling something far more serius and I need you guys to please help me out with this so read on.

Oliver Nome is an amazing artist, don’t take my word for it, just look at the powerful and expressive artwork I’ve posted with these words, this is one of the few guys I’ve run across the internet whose talent speak for itself. He’s a freelance artist for Aspen and DC comics, and he’s been struck by illness. This man, this incredibly talented guy has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and he needs our help, please go to this link and chip-in with whatever you can to help him out. The sad true is that this guy needs money so he can get proper medical service, so he can live and pencil more amazing comic books for us.

Please let’s do some good for Oliver, I’m pretty sure most of you would want to see more artwork from him. Go here and look at the bottom of your wallet. I’m sure Oliver and his family will be very thankful to you guys.

You can contribute to Comics Forever!!!

Using this little link here you submit anything, from artwork to reviews and comic-related links over the ‘net!

Now please be mindful of a couple of things before sending me tons of stuff:

For Comic Art:

  • Please send clean artwork, I don’t post watermarked art of any kind!
  • Let me know who is the artist! (giving proper credit is a must!) or if you are an artist yourself, send me the proper links to your site (tumblr, devianart account, blogspot etc.)
  • I only do Superheroes on this blog (and derivatives like the occasional Science Fiction, Videogame or Anime stuff), so please keep that in mind before sending me your awesome art about something totally unrelated.
  • Keep it clean! I know I post a lot of comic ladies here, but I don’t post nudes or sex stuff. There’s plenty of that here on tumblr anyway.

For Comic Reviews:

For the love of god, stay away of reviews like this:

  • Keep it simple: 3 paragraphs of about 7 to 10 lines explaining the most positive things you did see in the comic in question regarding writing, story, and art. Why no room for negative stuff you ask? because why the hell would I tell you to read a bad comic?

For Movies and TV Shows:

  • Very much like above, you explain why whatever you watched is so great in 3 paragraphs of about 7 to 10 lines explaining the most positive things you did see in the movie (or series) in question regarding writing, story, visuals and casting. I’ve already reviewed a lot of Comic Movies, but there are some out there that I haven’t touched, feel free to take a crack at them so I’ll know if we see eye to eye!

For Music and Videos:

  • I post music for your ears here from time to time, If you want to share a song (or a video, or a AMV…) that you believe is great, the only requisite I ask is that it must be related to comic lore or gaming related stuff, what does this mean specifically? well you can submit that great Soundgarden song if it belongs to a Comic Movie Soundtrack!

That’s about it for now folks, if you have any question please go to my askbox! I’ll always reply privately!

Danilo.-

P.s: Please check these guys out, they are my greatest supporters and Comics Forever wouldn’t exist without the great push these guys have given me!

…I think we, as any blogger worth his or her daily traffic, have the responsibility to give something back to the digital world in which we exploit. I get recognition for sifting through the dirty flea markets and broken down garage sales of the CyberWeb and sharing with you all the pretty pictures I find. You’re welcome, btw, but the fact remains that I didnt do anything but press a couple buttons. Somebody else bled out their soul and conducted a symphony with the droplets. Bloggers owe it to artists, creators, entertainers, and original websites to do the simplest good deed and help propagate their name.

I get tons of requests daily from people asking me to follow their blog or check out their site but if you’re not crediting your posts, you’re a soulless wretch, a mere consumer scooping creativity into your gaping maw and shatting out the collective mess. Rethink your business model if you do this, then re-examine your life and ask yourself if you’re really a good person. I’m looking at sites like 9gag, who actively ruin other people’s work by burning their own watermark onto it, or I dunno, most of tumblr, who are happy to reblog a post complete with source material and good references, before stripping all of that away just so they can have a blog full of context-less pictures that represent just how deep and generic a person they really are…

Ian Brooks

Because Christmas is nothing if we don’t reflect about something, I leave these words of wisdom coming from Ian Brooks through the blog of the guy who taught me how to keep a good looking tumblr!

Yeah, Christmas night is gonna be awesome with these presents! Merry Christmas to all of you my dear followers from ComicsForever!

Yeah this motherfucker owns the shelf now (a shelf made of nostalgia and a childhood repackaged at three times his original value as you can see)

I didn’t own any Thundercats toys while growing up, had the chance to see the old ones some time ago and I thought that it wasn’t a big loss, the new Thundercats classics however are fucking cool, boasting an heroic 8 inches in size, this guy has 18 points of articulation, interchangeable hands, two swords of Omens (one short-bladed one long), and the the pawn-glove, it’s one of the best renditions of the character I’ve seen in a long time, I can’t wait for the rest of this line!
